Why use this converter
Your audio stays private
Files are read and encoded inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for unreleased tracks and private recordings.
Fast, even with large files
Encoding runs in a background thread and reads the file in small pieces, so long recordings don't freeze the page.
Pick the quality you need
Choose 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps. Keep stereo, or mix voice recordings down to mono to save space.
Handles real-world WAVs
8 to 32-bit PCM, 32 and 64-bit float, RF64 and high sample rates like 96 kHz are all supported.
Frequently asked questions
Is this WAV to MP3 converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All conversion happens on your device. Once the page has loaded, it keeps working even without an internet connection.
Which bitrate should I choose?
192 kbps is a good default for music. Choose 256 or 320 kbps for the best quality, or 128 kbps for podcasts and voice recordings where file size matters more.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Files are read in small pieces, so even long recordings convert on most computers. On older phones, very large files can take a while.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in current versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on phones, tablets and computers.
Why is the MP3 so much smaller than the WAV?
WAV stores audio uncompressed. MP3 removes sounds people can barely hear, so a 192 kbps MP3 is usually about one seventh the size of a CD-quality WAV.
